Declining motivation, superficial participation, and dependence on external rewards are significant challenges in school education. This study aims to examine the effects of instructional gamification on students’ intrinsic motivation, cognitive engagement, academic perseverance, and learning retention. The proposed learning environment will incorporate progressive missions, educational narratives, achievement badges, immediate feedback, learner choice, collaborative challenges, and individualized progress tracking. An experimental or quasi-experimental design will compare gamified instruction with conventional classroom teaching. In addition to academic achievement tests, data on participation, time on task, cognitive strategy use, and student experiences will be analyzed. Purposeful gamification is expected to enhance not only classroom attractiveness but also information-processing depth, sustained effort, and long-term retention. The study will also clarify the conceptual distinction between meaningful educational gamification and the superficial use of rewards, competition, or entertainment elements.
