Analyzing the Role of Evidence-Based Education in Improving Educational Decision-Making

Abstract

This study aims to explain the role of evidence-based education in enhancing the quality, accuracy, and effectiveness of educational decision-making. This qualitative study employed a systematic–interpretive literature review approach. Data were collected through purposive examination of valid scientific articles from international and national databases, resulting in the selection of 15 eligible studies after rigorous screening. Theoretical sampling continued until theoretical saturation was achieved. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis with NVivo 14 software through open, axial, and selective coding to extract core themes and conceptual relationships. The results revealed four major themes: institutionalization of an evidence-based culture in education, improvement of educational decision-making quality, professional empowerment of educational stakeholders, and systemic outcomes of evidence-based education. The findings indicate that evidence-based education reduces subjective decisions, enhances policy coherence, strengthens professional competencies of teachers and administrators, improves student learning outcomes, promotes educational equity, and increases public trust in educational systems. Evidence-based education serves as a fundamental strategy for establishing intelligent, accountable, and sustainable decision-making in educational systems and plays a critical role in improving educational quality and achieving sustainable development goals.
